Florida FFA and Citrus Expo: A Productive Partnership

The Florida Future Farmers of America’s (FFA) involvement with Citrus Expo has been occurring for about 10 years, says Ronnie Simmons, executive director of the Florida FFA.

Simmons attended the 2017 Citrus Expo earlier this month, along with the six Florida FFA state officers who helped with every aspect of the event.

“This is a good opportunity for FFA to be here, not only to help out with the logistics of the show, but to engage with our partners in the citrus industry, as well,” Simmons says.

His favorite part of Citrus Expo is being able to show the officers from around the state the citrus industry. He emphasizes that the officers are from all around the state. Some of them come from places where citrus is not grown much.

“So it’s kind of cool to see, to be here and see their eyes opened to the depth and the breadth of the citrus industry and interact with these folks that we don’t typically get to interact with on a daily basis,” Simmons says.
